Tying the Wunder Bug

Fly Tying

Here is a good looking Fly to try.

Detailed video with step by step instructions to guide you through the process of tying this versatile pattern. As a guide on the Upper Delaware, I've fished this pattern in various sizes, hook shapes and colors with great success. Originally designed to be fished dry, this "cross-over" pattern can be fished underneath as well. We've used the Wunder Bug as a swinging wet fly or a dropper on our nymph rigs. Selectively dressed with Frog's Fanny, the loop under-wing creates and air bubble. I will often dress the front and wet the abdomen and shuck which allows the fly to ride high in the front and semi-submerged in the back.
