Thanks guy's it sure feels good to have 50's again after a couple of week of minus temps these past few days have been awesome. I hope it stays this way for a litte longer but I am sure Jack Frost will be back in town soon. Til then I am soaking up the rays.

On the first Sunday in January, a bunch of guys from "another fly fishing forum" spend the day at Rogers Park in Kennebunk on the Mousam River for the annual Freeze Up Follies. We've been doing it for 7 years now. Lots of fun and prizes. Casting contest, great food, great people. Everyone is welcome. Make your plans for next year.

Fly fishing in January huh. A foot of snow on the ground,
Temps hovering a ways below freeze and most days a brisk
breeze. I can already picture the situation...Chest waders,
long underwear, mittons,..I take fluid pills...Getting 2 inches
of willy out through 3 inches of clothes and over the top of
my waders would be mission impossible. Add mittons to the picture.
If I removed the mittons, I better get him first stab with the
cold fingers...Else I have to stick a finger up my arse and holler
snake in order to scare him out where I can get another chance at him.
Add to that slippery footing and frozen guides.
I may be a bit envious at times. But for now I shall put another
big chunk of wood in the stove to keep the old bones warm. Think about
tying a fly or two and slowly ready my equipment for Spring. If I
string a couple of flylines throughout the house, I should have them
fully dressed by mid April.
