Welcome to Lee's Fishing Page

Welcome to the next generation of Lee's Fishing Page.

I have finally gotten my stuff together and migrated to glFusion.  glFusion is a much better platform for the web site and I really like the fact that it will be much easier to maintain then other forms of CMS systems.  Please look around and let me know if you see anything that looks out of whack and needs some tweaking.  Please note that the Login/Register screen is a link on the top menu when you are not Logged In.

I encourage all visitors to register, use the link Login/Register in the top Menu of the screen, IT IS FREE and the e-mail address is used only to send an initial password.  Registered users get to use all the features of the site.  ALSO if you want to post a story you need to have me make you a story submitter, so PM ("Message Center" option under the "My Account" Menu or on the Horizontal Menu) me and I will do that.

Please enjoy the site.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW

02/11/10  New Event List module added to site.  Hi all I have added a new module to the site to post upcoming events.  As you know I am using the master calendar to store important dates, birthdays and holidays.  Fishing shows and such will be listed in the Event module.  You now have a link in the "My Account" menu for "EventList", you can go here to see upcoming events and to add events to the system.  Also a new center block will show below the Forum center block with upcoming events.  I have it set up so all can add events, be careful and if you have trouble let me know.  Catagories for now are four, General, Fishing and Hunting Shows, Seminars and Meetings.  If you need a new catagory you can add it while you enter your event.  Hope you like this feature and will take advantage of it.

ENJOY

Lee

01/05/10  New Feature for the Site - I am going to archive the Home Page Video's to a "Fishing Story" called "Archive of Home Page Video's".  Go to this link to see the video's or click on Articles and Fishing Stories to fine this page.

11/19/09  I have made a change to the FORUM post and edit screen.  I have implemented the advanced editor and need to make you aware of it.  It is the same editor as you would see when submitting a story.  If you want to quote a previous post just click the QUOTE button as usual, but if you want to just quote something, use the square bracket code for QUOTES as the old edit window used.  This would also pertain to the FILE code as well to display an uploaded photo.  The nice thing about this editor is it will now allow the insertion of photo's from an album on the site, same as you would use in a story, and also the ability to insert an embedded video in a forum post.  There is a spell check in the editor as well which is very handy for those (like me) that have trouble with spelling.  Hope you like the change and if most do not like it please let me know and we can easily change it back. (See forum post)

09/02/09  Check out the General Forum for a sticky post about how to attach photo's to a forum post.  Very easy to do. File Attachments in the Forum

09/01/09  Check out the "Related Links" block that will show in the lower left corner of the page when you go into some topics like "Fly Tying".  I hope to improve on this down the road.

08/27/09  In the forum we now have a self moderating system in place.  Users rate each other user on the site with + or - ratings.  As a user you can only vote once for each other user, but the system does allow you to retract your rating.  Users comfort level is shown on the Avatar portion of a post.  If you level goes to or below -3 you can not post any more in a form.  If your level goes to or below -5 you no longer can view posts in a forum.  There is a new forum on the site called Community Moderation Discussion.  This new forum will allow all users banned in other forums to ask why and see if the community will reinstate them.  From my experience with this site I do not feel we will have any problem people to deal with.  Just nice to know how others feel about you.

Any questions just ask.

Hi All

Here is a copy of a series of posts my good friend and fisherman Joel Anderson did on the Fly Fishing in Maine web site showing how to make a Bamboo Fly Rod.  He is a very good writter and he does make very fine Bamboo Rods.  I hope all will read this and enjoy what he has done to help show some of the technigues used to make a cane fishing rod.

This story is multi pages long (20) so it is not a short read.

Enjoy

Tying the CDC Midge Emerger II

Fly Tying

Dakota Angler & Outfitter
This is a hybrid between a palamino midge and a morgan's midge. A versitle fly to have in a midge hatch, it can imitate an emerger as well as a stuck in the shuck midge. Tie them in this color scheme or come up with your own. Don't overdo the floatant. Just a smear on the wing and hackle will do.

Fly Tying with Hans: Bunny Dun

Fly Tying

Dakota Angler & Outfitter
This comparadun style of fly is quicker to tie than its deer hair winged cousin. The snowshoe rabbit hair floats well and has a great texture. Use it to imitate mayflies on your home water. In the hills we tie these to match PMDs, baetis, and tricos

Tying a Soft Hackle

Fly Tying

Dakota Angler & Outfitter
Soft hackles have been around for a long, long time. In the video I say a hundred years; well, I looked it up, try 500 years! There must be a reason- ah yes, they catch fish. These are simple flies to tie and they work extremely well. Experiment with various color schemes and materials.

Tying the Tape-Wing Caddis

Fly Tying

Dakota Angler & Outfitter
Oliver Edwards gave me the idea for the wing. An early version of this fly appeared in his Flytyers Masterclass. I have tied the Edwards version of this fly with deer hair for legs and it works great. I have used this cdc legged version and it works too. Whatever floats your caddis. The technique for the wing is great. I am sure you will put it to good use.
